Fannie Hillsmith
1911-2007
Fannie Hillsmith was an American cubist painter from Boston who during a long career, mostly based in New York City, developed a style of Cubism which combined traditional Cubist motifs with what she called "an early American feeling.” Hillsmith studied at the Boston Museum school and the Art Students League, NY. Hillsmith’s work is represented in the collections of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, the Modern Museum of Art, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum, among other prestigious institutions.
