Michael C. Thorpe

Rookie Card, 2020

Textie, quilting cotton, thread

33.75 x 24.75 in.

This work is a depiction of my “rookie” basketball card. This is an actual basketball card of me from back in 1999. It’s believed to be the first photograph of me as a basketball player. I made this work for one of my good friend Abhi’s magazine called Feels Like Home. The magazine is centered around the idea of nostalgia and will be releasing sometime early next year. My actual rookie card is featured on the home screen of my website.
