Luke Pelletier American, b. 1993
Luke Pelletier (born 1993, FL) is a painter, photographer, sculptor and musician who graduated with a BFA in fine art from the School of Art Institute Chicago in 2015. His paintings embrace a playful yet critical lens on consumer culture, Americana, and the pursuit of happiness. He draws people in with vibrant, accessible imagery before subtly flipping the narrative. Fascinated by the tension between the idealized and the real, his visual narratives are riddled with symbols of consumer culture, dark humor, and satirical messages.
Pelletier's upbringing in a tourist town in North Carolina has heavily influenced his practice. He speaks to the contradictions inherent in the human search for meaning and pleasure in a world where everything—from dreams to experiences—feels packaged for consumption.
