❤️ From LA: Christina Erives

24 July - 28 August 2021
Overview

❤️From LA  features  ceramic tiles that highlight Erives’ humorous takes on everyday objects. The bright and colorful tiles explore the joy from things such as cowboy boots to  the absurdity of a chicken taking a dump. The humor and energy in this body of work creates a narrative of finding love and happiness in the small things: something that can be easily forgotten in the contemporary digital age we live in.

We first showed Erives in September 2020 in a solo exhibition, Con O Sin Cebollas / With or Without Onions and this fun summer presentation is our continued connection with this West Coast artist.

Erives is a LA based Mexican American artist working primarily in ceramic who frequently creates narratives around food and contemporary womanhood. She received her BFA and MA from California State University, Northridge and her MFA from Penn State University. From 2019 to May of 2020, Erives was a Visiting Artist Instructor at the University of Montana. She was awarded the Victor Spinkski Award at the National Council On Education for The Ceramics Arts in 2017. Erives has exhibited her work in the United States and Mexico.
