LaiSun Keane (Boston, MA) is pleased to present a solo booth of new works by Raina Lee on view from May 7 to 10 at Future Fair, New York City.
Raina Lee (b. 1976, Torrance, CA) presents a series of postcard-sized ceramic tiles, sculptures, and vessels inspired by her residency and travels through historic cities in Spain. Utilizing her signature glazes and distinctive ceramic techniques, Lee’s works are expressive, fluid, and abstracted, yet remain true to the source materials, and her experiences. Acting as a visual journal, the collection captures iconic sites and moments — from the vibrant food culture to the architectural beauty of cities like Barcelona, Córdoba, and Granada. Notably, her vessels pay homage to the Moorish designs of the Alhambra, while her playful depictions of local food, such as Jamón Ibérico de Bellota, appear across both tiles and sculptures. Lee’s keen observation of life transforms into a rich, tactile narrative, using clay as her primary medium of expression.
