Yoorim Kim South Korean, b. 1997

Biography

Yoorim Kim (b. 1997, South Korea) is a painter currently based in Boston, Massachusetts. She holds a BFA in Painting and Visual Communication Design from Hongik University, South Korea, and is currently pursuing an MFA in Painting at Boston University.

Drawing from the historical and emotional landscape of southwestern South Korea, Yoorim’s work explores the boundaries between existence and memory, love and violence, and despair and resilience. Through staining, bleeding, and layered painterly processes, she traces how time alters bodies, places, and memories, attending to what has been eroded and oxidized, yet continues to persist.

In 2025, Yoorim presented her first solo exhibition in Seoul, with funding from the Seoul Metropolitan Government and the Seoul Foundation for Arts and Culture. In the same year, she was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to pursue graduate studies in painting.
