Taeko Maezawa Japanese, b. 1977
This work is based on the image of reason (kotowari).
It is an image of how the mind is shaped and exists.
There have always been stories about the land, such as "Daidarabotchi" in Shizuoka Prefecture, where I am from.
This work is like an image of what people think of, like a million gods, shaped by their thoughts.
The work is filled with the thought that human thoughts will be mixed with the atmosphere, become rain, rain down, sprout, and one day take shape.
The wooden panel is primed, kimono is pasted on the sides, and the pattern is extended on the screen. Gold leaf is used for the part that looks like an antler. If you look closely at this part, you can see a house painted on it.
The part that looks like hair is an image of a plant. The raised copper-colored lines on the green part of the body are made of a material in which copper powder is kneaded into the resin.
The drawing was created mainly with acrylic, pencil, pen, ink, and pastel powder, and coated with a protective material after completion.
This existence itself is an image of nature, like a forest or mountain, with people living in it.
If you look closely, you can see various creatures scattered about, depicting the image of many creatures when they enter the forest.
