Taeko Maezawa Japanese, b. 1977
The image is that of one of the Princess Kaguyahime.
Although the story of Princess Kaguyahime depicted in this work is one story, I drew various Princess Kaguyahime, as if many Princess Kaguyahime had occurred over time.
I made a panel out of wood, wrapped it with kimono, layered the base material, made a support, and then collaged pressed flowers (used around the hair ornaments) to wrap them with the medium. Then, the base was coated with gesso to give it strength, and pigments were dripped over it to add color, and the image that emerged became the face of the girl. On the side, I used kimono fabric and extended the kimono pattern onto the screen in collaboration. The kimono is used as an image of the memory of life.
When drawing up the image, I mainly used acrylic, pencil, pen, ink, and pastel powder, and after completion, I coated it with a protective material.
Modern Princess Kaguyahime - this is an image from her childhood.
