Lauren Petrick Brooks American, b. 1986
Artist statement:
I make close-up representational work about personal connection through particular, devoted attention to detail. I need deep, personal relationships — to self, others, place, and work. My studio is a place to explore the intricate dynamics of these relationships. I paint, draw, and research intimacy as a way to see and understand. I visually process my internal experiences in order to share these emotions with the viewer. I aim for my art to transcend the small space in which I create it, hoping others feel a connection to the details that bind us to shared human experiences.
