Raque Ford American, b. 1986

Biography

Raque Ford (b. 1986, Columbia, Maryland) is a multimedia artist working in Brooklyn, New York. Ford creates at the intersection of painting and sculpture, melding personal identity with popular culture. Her unique treatment of materials characterizes her works: she combines reflective acrylic and steel chains with text and Mylar, incorporating quotes from fiction and song lyrics into many of her works.

 

Raque Ford received her BFA from the Pratt Institute and her MFA from the Rutgers Mason Gross School of the Arts. Ford has been a SIP fellow at the Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop. Her prints are influenced by Minimalism, sculptural forms, fashion, and her own history.
